BS219 is a possible ‘project with provenance’ for the future and is listed in a certain ‘boo’.
I love what is called “provenance” these days. I own 1 helicopter and 3 jets by that standard! 😀

Possibly Spitfire Mk Vc, BS219, Darwin, circa June 1943, said to be flown by Flg/0ff ‘Butch’ Hamilton.
Indeed BS219, with the Jiminy Cricket in an earlier format.

I’ve got a RAAF Spitfire book somewhere with a Vc coded ZP-X and Jiminy under the cockpit. Was this the same pilot or are all Australians obsessed with cricket?

Well done Duggy! We can see the ace of spades on the rudder and the squadron QY codes have been stencilled on as seen in many 452 squadron photos. Would be great to see a close up of the individual markings under the windscreens.
It is Disney character Jiminy Crricket.

A58-504 ‘R’ and A58-540 ‘I’ Morotai July 1945.

A58-504 was built as MB974 and TOC 9/4/44. Arrived Melbourne 7/7/44. 452 Sqn 10/12/44 and flown by several pilots before adopted by F/O Rex Watson when he joined in April 1945. All his aircraft had ‘Jiminy Cricket’ painted below the cockpit. It is frequently listed in the ORB as A58-564, a serial number never alloacted by the RAAF.

Netherlands East Indies.
Look to be Mk VIII’s.
Getting dangerously close to the Burma saga.
I will check out the squadron code on my return.
Some of these Mk VIII’s were dumped on the edge of Medan airfield by the RAF rather than ‘given to the locals to make utensils’. They were there for some years and became a source of spares for the new Spitfires, Mk IX’s, of the Dutch Air Force through to the late 1940’s.
