Hi all
We colonials – being behind the eight ball quite a bit don’t get UK programs for quite some time often.
The above mentioned show featuring the Grace Spit is on ABC (Like BBC but with an A) tonight at 8.30 pm and i was wondering what the opinion of it was in the UK – Probably more interested in the spit footage than the likely crap story line?

I did a piece on the making of this for Aeroplane (other listings magazines are available) and Carolyn spent a lot of time preparing the Spitfire flying so that it was structured in the same way as the conversion flying would be at a squadron. Needless to say you don’t see all ten hours flying!, and some of what you do see is clearly for the camera, but the guy that got through had to work and prove himself.
It is worth watching and also worth noting that over here it got viewing figures that were way above what this type of programme usually does.

You may be able to hack your DVD to play all regions – If you want to know how email me at parkerj@launch,net,au it won’t hurt your player and is legal to do

Watch out for regions – Aus is Region 4 – usual factors apply – might not have a region ‘set’ of course.

Setter….Spitfire Ace is outstanding !
Setter…greetings from BlueNoser352 here in the USA, I have enjoyed this outstanding four part series and have gotten it on DVD off the History Channel here in the USA. A great concept by the production team at Britian’s Channel 4. Tremendous air to air scenes and the historical information in the documentary along with interviews with those RAF pilots and ground crew who served in that period the war adds greatly to the series. There is also inteviews with members of the Luftwaffe as well. A must to record for those of us who admire the bravery of those who fought during this great air battle.
Added to the actual flying of Carolyn Grace’s two seater Mark IV Spitfire in the production. The final show “The Greatest Day ” is my favorite. I watched the final part twice on Saturday……a classic production !!! Glad to hear it coming out on DVD. What is the web address of the ABC shops in Australia?
All the Best!

For you Aussies
The DVD will be obtainable from our ABC shops – no doubt for an extortionate amount of money at the end of the screening in about a month according to the rude ABC lady I just rang .

John
I’ve only seen a couple of episodes personally but the general opinion on the forum was “excellent”.
A bit less so on the bomber follow-up if you get that in due course but probably better than most of the cr@p on TV these days.
