Spitfire PR395

A chum just had lunch with the pilot of this Seafire and would like to know it’s history.

Two bits of information he has given me. “Reg – W – PR 395 (circa 1945) based at Nutts Corner”

after roundel, reads “W Royal Navy PR395”

Information third-hand from the pilots who dinged it:

“a ‘Crash Formation landing…flipped over. Port wheel caught cement drain culvert”

Nice to see you enticed people in by calling it a Spitfire…;)

Air Britains Fleet Air Arm Aircraft 1939-1945 says:
Deld RDU Culham 23/7/45; 803NAS Nutts Corner (‘W’) 9/45; Stalled after wave off Nutts Corner, code 3 31/10/45 (S/L WL Nash)
And the information only covers until the end of 1945.
RDU is Receipt and Dispatch Unit.
Code 3 is an accident category, but unfortunately the details for this system are unknown (in the book, anyway).
