(exemplified by frames 12 & 13 where the inner flange is missing)
Stuart you really need to get out more.
How about Brenzett on the 27th 🙂

Yes quite a few bits of original frame there, but by the look of things none of them complete enough to “stand alone” and the new build looks more like a tailors dummy, made specifically to hang the original parts on but not actually to spec; (exemplified by frames 12 & 13 where the inner flange is missing) I particularly like the reverse fitted ASI in the brake pressure location!

What was the intention with the build? was it just an attempt to establish provenance, to sell it for big bucks (as seen a couple of years ago at the auction)
This cockpit section was the second of three projects built by the same source as a venture to gather a package of parts with a ‘thin but robust provenance’ to a Spitfire serial and to then move on the added value. That is the business case. I would suggest the success of the first project prompted the second two.
The is no question that remnants of P8088 have been incorporated here and smile when I say to you there is more of the original here than in some Spitfires currently flying around the world.
As with top end classic cars…buyers, do your homework. 🙂

I would suggest that the safest option for anyone with 250K burning a hole would be to run away fast….

Robert,
More than a canopy, it’s a Chipmunk cockpit lying next to a rear fuselage, plus tailplane plus a seat. And of course the last photo is merely a civil type.

The ebay heading is SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE, HURRICANE, SIATA, WORLD WAR 2 CLASSIC AVIATION, HISTORIC, ENGINES, WINGS, OBJECTS.
There are certainly Chipmunk canopy and tail parts in one of the photos.

I must confess to being perplexed by this cockpit build; every time I see it, it is slightly different, (as above with engine bearers attached) but never appears to have been finished off before painting, and the original sections (which look to be quite poor) are sort of incorporated in the build, and yet not!

I can confirm that the Borough of Lambeth Spitfire cockpit is definitely not for sale again.
Pete
That is a very authoritative statement.
Four of the images on the eBay site are of P8088, the ‘Lambeth’ cockpit and I have studied it in depth.
The Hurricane is a known Russian example with I believe a credited serial and British registration.
The 109 ‘kit’ is a known example.
Something is wrong somewhere. 🙂

It’s that borough of Lambeth replica cockpit, (again) and a few miscellaneous bits; not sure of the origin of the engine though

Some of the pics come from other sites, not sure what to make of it.
I think the front fuselage on pallets is a YAK
the pic comes from here 4th row from bottom on projects page:

So a Hurricane engine in situ and what looks to to be a 109 wing.
This man needs a marketing strategist.

The photo of the airframe with the front resting on a pallet looks Me 109ish, the motors the wrong way up for Spit.

Look at the other items he’s selling for more info, in particular the 911.
The feed back I think is from himself, can you do that?!
If you find his website he’s an accomplished motor cycle restorer who fancies moving on to Spitfires and the like.
