Spitfire PV270…getting close.

Two images just in from Brendon Deere.

Following power tests the aircraft taxied yesterday, 6th March.

PV270

Hi all,

Just seen the ITL website and noticed these links.

I’m very pleased to see the Spitfire in flight.

Just got an email from Brendon with links to a couple of videos of PV270. The first is TV3’s coverage of the first flight, well done to them for following the project over the years…even if they do use the same old footage of Hawker Typhoons at one point! http://www.3news.co.nz/Video/National/tabid/309/articleID/96461/cat/64/Default.aspx#video

The second is the take-off and taxi-in of the first flight, here’s a high definition version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnJP2B50La0

Can’t wait for Classic Fighters!

Great to hear of KIWI III being resurrected…about time there was an early-mark Spit in Al Deere’s colours 😀

Out of curiousity, anyone know why they went with the early style mirror instead of the cupped mirror?

Dan

To ‘mirror’ the original AL.

A beautiful bird. Oh to have the money to do something like that!

And especially with the unfortunate landing incident with the trIX. Beautiful looking plane indeed.

Now for Al deeres mk 1…….

Do RACO still have this project?

Whats next – any ideas?

Keeping them flying…

…and expanding attention spans. 😀

I think it’s good news too, and good for the Kiwis, particularly given the ‘heritage’ of this story.

Great.
