Spitfire R 4516 ?

Picked up this prop blade in a swap the other day. It seems to have what looks like an aircraft serial number on the tip ?. I have tried to look this number up but the serials i have dont seem to go as low as this in the R series. Saying that I have seen the odd quote listing Spits with serials around this number, can anyone come up with an answer?

Thanks Mark can you expand please , is this a Spit blade?

I am just off out, but from memory that is a Seafire XV/XVII blade.

Graham,

UKserials.com has R4499-R4521 as Westland Whirlwind, which means that if the serial is what is actually displayed on the prop blade, you’ve got someting rather rare! However, not sure whirlwinds had such broad prop blades, and I’ve never seen serials on blade tips before. So roll on an expert to enlighten us…!
