Any clues on the identity of the aircraft being recovered?
By: Fournier Boy - 4th August 2018 at 10:06
I believe it’s pencil scheduled for Remembrance Sunday, but I’m sure it will show up on the schedules in a few months time and can be confirmed.

Anyone know when the tv programme about this recovery is due out?

Thanks for the photo, Mark. We do look forward to hearing and seeing more, all in good time. “Still a way to run on this one”, as you say.
Paul, I had to laugh at your Monty Python reference. For those who don’t know it, here’s the skit on youtube:

Blue? Looks mostly grey to me? Would not the greeny/bits quite easily be corrosion?
Still too early to call based on this alone…

There is a picture of that wing spar on the pictures of Spitfire BP917,s wreckage, shot down on the 16th May 1944. It looks the same to me , but who knows.
I don’t think it’s BP917 as in the mission statement of the recovery it says the pilot survived.

A PR huh, sell it to Rolls Royce and it can join their collection of dead Spitfires :highly_amused:

My guess would be “The Great Escape” one

Presumably is that propeller blade is from the aeroplane in question we’re looking at up to a Mk 5? In one of the Nordic states – another PR.IV?

It isn’t in Sweden, but the right area.
