Earlier this month the Newark Air Museum was approached with regard to being given the Spitfire ‘Replica’ that was recently displayed at Duxford – sadly due to lack of suitable space the trustees have declined the offer.
However to try and assist with finding it a home I have been asked to post the following details:
“I’m contacting you on behalf of Noble Foods who are a local egg producer based in North Scarle, Lincolnshire. We have a brand called Eggs for Soldiers which we sell in aid of Help for Heroes. We recently made a life-size Spitfire out of egg boxes – see attached pics – and we are looking for a home for it, it is currently in storage. We wondered if you would like to display it at the museum? We are happy to donate it to you at no cost and to come and build it for you in the museum, again at no cost.”
Sorry about the lack of photographs but the following additional information was forthcoming:
“The wingspan of the Spitfire is 11.5m – it is a life-size model – and it is 12m long…… It essentially comes in 3 main pieces plus the wings as you will see from the video but yes, we can definitely supply it in pieces to be built wherever you can accommodate it.”
If any group is interested then please send me a PM (please include an email address) and I will forward on your details.
This information has also been posted on the BAPC Forum Group.

In Burma, he could then genuinely claim he has found a Spitfire and hundreds of boxes….

No it wasn’t, but there’s been a real scramble with the wise-cracks and yet still no one has shelled out with a hard boiled offer of a new coup for this one!
Sunny side up everyone … sunny side up!! 😀

At least it will be easy to move, you won’t have to shell a lot out on transport, with such little weight on the trailer eggseleration will be fine
