Duxford at mid-day today, Friday.
This brings the total number of Spitfires that have flown since the Battle of Britain film to a nice round 70.
Forty Two of these airframes could be considered as airworthy and likely to fly during the 2007 world season.
No images, but here is one I made earlier. 😉 …much earlier.

Flying A’s Seafire III rebuild must run a close second!
How about the ex Robs/CC MkIX TE517, or ex WoGB/CC MkXIV MV262? The latter one probably has an “authenticity certificate” saying it is genuinely one of the limited edition “Dave Lees signature range” of Spitfires 😀 :p

Order! Order!
NG-D,but not necessarily in that order?
Stuart,
Post WWII, 604 Squadron Mk XVI Spitfires in camouflage had their codes painted on the starboard side as NG-D etc, as the lead photo in post 1.
When the aircraft were re-finished in silver the codes on the starboard side was changed to read D-NG etc.
RW386 was painted in its current scheme circa 1993 and replicates the scheme of its sister ship, RW382 NG-C, both, if being super critical, are technically incorrect I suspect.

Ah yes, and includes you too – about ten years before that! Old git….!
Seriously though – this must be the most protracted of Spitfire rebuilds, and many of the well known Spitfire figures have been involved. (I dont count me in that!)
It was acquired by Doug Arnold, and the rebuild commenced by D1ck Melton. Our friend DIGBY was, of course, involved at this stage when he was nobbut a lad!
It was put into storage almost complete, and came to HFL in 1992, following the completion of TD248. I remember Dougs one and only visit to see it – he died shortly after. I was also nobbut a lad at the time!
It was then stored again for another 12 years before HFL purchased it. I am really pleased to see it in the air, and it brings back fond memories of RW382 in the early 90’s

Don’t under estimate your shot mate, it’s pin sharp, and well captured.
Ding-D*NG 🙂

Not quite up to Darrens standard, but here’s Lee Proudfoot & RW386 today.

[QUOTE=Roobarb;1087024]
Who’ll be first to post photos of the event then…..?
Paul F
My money’s on Darren seeing as:
A) he was out on the field with the hubble telescope attached to his camera body!
B) My pictures are on the way to the lab! However, there were a number of other contenders so we’ll have to be patient for now.
Nice to see JG891 and the Buchon enjoying the March sunshine as well.
OK then!

More to follow, tommorow.
