Hello All!
I’m looking to find any footage or photographs of spitfires being scrapped, buried or generally disposed of for a BBC4 documentary special.
It would be great to know what’s out there and who owns it.
Thanks,
Myles

Thank you all. Will be chasing all these leads. Much appreciated.
And in reply to Skeeler:
Yes the documentary is not just focusing on the break up of Spitfires. It’s just one part of the doc.

The best place to contact is…http://www.airframes.co.uk/
They have dealt with former scrapyard projects and are used to media requests( Unlike a few other rebuilders who have to keep projects confidential)

Nor do I, but the substance of the question doesn’t mean that will necessarily be the theme of the documentary, which is more likely to be about the Spitfire in general and what happened generally to more than 22,000 of them?

I do not like horror films.

Myles – Here’s link to a previous thread on the forum that might help – https://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?76323-When-was-the-last-Spitfire-Scrapped/page2
Also, a link to a facebook group in Australia relating to an area where Spitfires were disposed of at the end of WW2 and rumours of ‘buried Spitfires, parts and other aircraft’ in mine workings there at Oakey –https://www.facebook.com/1818098681835194/photos/a.1818108551834207.107…
Also a long forum thread here regards ‘scrapyard Photos’ that includes many of Spitfires – https://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?36444-Scrapyard-Photos-Any-More/page7
