I was browsing through some old copies of “Control Column” and came across a piece in the March 1970 issue which covered the “discovery” of the substantial remains of Spitfire XVI SM278 on Great Arden Moor – or was it Arden Great Moor.
Anyway, the photos show substantial airframe sections in situ.
I know what happened to the tailplanes but I wonder if anybody can shed light on where the rest ended up?
