Marking the Spitfire Society’s 25th anniversary, Charlie Brown displayed BM597, as did Maurice Hammond with a P-51D, at Old Warden this afternoon.
Couldn’t have wished for better weather, and it was an honour to be in such exalted company.
There was a photo call for society members, both individually, and as a group, I’m only sorry I don’t know who the old gentlemen are.
The Ryan trainer took off first, for a few circuits, before the spitfire and chipmunk took off.
Charlie displayed for about 10 minutes, and not long after Maurice entered the circuit for the same.
C&C most welcome, I’ve taken onboard some previous comments regarding processing, so am interested in how they are received.
Cheers,
Kev.

I’m really no expert, and critisism is not what i want to bring. Feedback sounds nicer:)
I use canon 450D with an old analogue canon 80-200 telelens, I had a crack with it at just one airshow so far at duxford last year.
I use a medium setting for filesize and do all my editing these days with windows live photogallery.Simple and enough for me to get a decent enhancement.

Thanks for the comments everyone, it’s always appreciated, and especially the constructive critisism from Skybert.
I’ve ‘toned’ these down considerably from my last set, of the practise and auths week at Old Warden, but i think I know where you’re coming from Skybert.
I use Canon’s DPP, and process from RAW. Very little saturation was applied (+1) but I usually apply one of the programs settings of landscape or portrait (colour / brightness, not orientation!) adjustment, and then adjust the white balance for correctness.
I’ve tried to ensure the whites are accurate, followed by the colours we know, such as the roundels and camoflage etc. Also, the blue sky, which was present from the outset in nearly all the images without any adjustment, taking into account aircrafts position (low cloud north) and altitude.
I may have another play later, concentrating on the contrast and brightness, so thanks again for your thoughts.
Cheers,
Kev.

Hi Kev
Wonderful pics! must have been a special event to attend..
I like the first rolling Spit shot and that last one of the Mustang most. Well balanced pictures!
In general I can appreciate the colour enhancements you seem to do, if i am not mistaken, though you might consider to hold back on it just a little more than you did. That is just my personal taste, since i am no expert at all.
Same is for my tatse of contrast, a little less contrast or brightness, might reveal that much more on the darker sections in your compositions without the pic going flat or bland.
again, great shots!
