The survey in the latest FP lists the following :
TE566 Privately owned , operated from Wonderboom ,South Africa as ZU-SPT . Destroyed in fatal crash April 25,2002
and next entry:
PL983 Under restoration at Sandown ,Isle of Wight for Historic Flying, Duxford
Cambs.
I think when it comes to these surveys it’s both hard to define what is destroyed as the remains of TE566 are in Australia as a rebuild project but more importantly not to forget that PL983 crashed and killed Martin
Sergeant in France .

As do I – I dont find the thought of rebuilding such an airframe particularly comfortable, I must say. My observations on TE566 are purely ‘clinical’.

Not of course forgetting the loss of the pilot. Bruce
Agreed.
My own thoughts that an airframe, once destroyed or involved in a “fatal” crash should not be resurrected have been viewed on this forum several times in the past.

The pics of ‘566 showed that there was potentially enough structure to commence a rebuild, and keep some originality. Wings looked ‘recoverable’, but fuselage was as has been said rather past its best.
Not of course forgetting the loss of the pilot.

The pictures that were doing the rounds of the TE566 crash showed a substantially destroyed airframe, with very little intact forward of the tail unit. I guess very little of TE566 pre-crash will be used in the Australian rebuild.
