Engine number 1 was a JRS engine with 300+ hours on it, number 2 was mostly a a P & A Wood engine with very few hours on it, whatever the cause of the problems which caused a few headaches for a while it’s good to see it up and about and I’m sure the next engine will be overhauled soon. Shame about PV202 though.

Carolyn’s engines have been having some problems with metal bits, too, IIRC from the newsletters.

Oh forgot to add that IAC161 when I last saw it had no engine in – believe after ground runs some significant amounts of metal were found in the oil – so engine removed and sent back accross the pond some 5 weeks ago. Not heard of whats happening – does make you wonder about US rebuilds, was it ever run and checked? Wer’nt Carolyns engines rebuilt in the US?

PT462 tipped on her nose start of 2003, taxing for 1st test flight after engine rebuild, engine checked and not shock loaded. Was not due to water logged field and owner was not at the controls at the time.
Aircraft fine and spent all of this weekend 5th6th June in NI doing D-Day Anniv displays returning safely.

I think that was at the beginning of last year Daz.IIRC, the wheels dug into the soft water-logged earth of her home airstrip, which reduced her ground clearance sufficiently for the prop to hit the floor. Not sure if the engine was shock-loaded,but she’s up and about again now anyhow. 🙂

Wasn’t PT462 u/s for a while with a slightly shock-loaded engine recently?

Hi Black Knight,
I presume you mean PV202/IAC161? 😉 PT462 is the ex-Charles Church two-seater that was recovered from Israel in the 70’s and is now owned and flown by Anthony Hodgson from his airstrip in Wales.
As for IAC 161,I’ve not heard anything yet,but here’s hoping it won’t be too long.
