Cheers old chap…we can only hope more survived than just my rather nice access panel. A few years ago, i acquired several pictures from Bicester…..very sad to see so many beautiful spits only a few years before i arrived on earth!
looking forward to the book!

Not Hokum.
This was a perfect high back MK XVI that the BBMF just dumped, along with TB308, in to the scrap area at Bicester circa 1960.
One wing was salvaged from this duo to repair the accident to NH238.
Not a survivor but it will feature in ‘the book’ Vol. II appendix under the section – ‘Spitfires that nearly made it’. This will look in depth at the very large number of Spitfires disposed of from 1960-1970.
