I received these photos of Spitfire XVI TE384 from my friend Jeff Sharpe of the 51 Factory, LLC and asked permission to share them.
I think she has been in store since 2002 after she was grounded with engine problems.
Her full history can be found here http://www.warbirdregistry.org/spitregistry/spitfire-te384.html and she was used for taxying scenes in the film Battle of Britain.

Hope you enjoy them.

Hello,
Is there any updates on this Spitfire and is it owned by the same company?
Regards

Nice to see it down from the rack and at last on the move. I called by in November 2010.

So long as she stays a low-back…

Yes, the airframe does need quite a bit of “help”. I remember it having a “modified” V1650-7 (ie ex- P-51) “crate” engine in it originally when it flew very briefly in Oz and saw the reasons why “crate” engines should be at least bulk stripped before fitting to an airworthy aeroplane.

Good project, but needs a little more than an engine change IMHO!

It is in ‘The Book’ – I paid it a visit to take some photos for the editors a few years back. Good to see that it has been moved off the mezzanine where it was stored and onto the floor, although those photos seem to be a couple of years old now. I wonder if the owner has plans to put his P-51D back together and fly it too?

Don’t know about the booK but it needs a good going over with a feather duster!:D

The plan I think is for it to be returned to flight status next summer along with this new Merlin 266 which they now have ready for it.
Will it be in the book……
