A loooong while back, I remember seeing a photo of East Fortune’s Spitfire XVI TE462 in flight, wearing the markings of 101 Flying Refresher School (FDA-C, I think).
It was in natural aluminium, with yellow wing and fuselage bands.
But….. do you think I can find it again??
I was pretty sure it was on the old National Museum of Scotland page for the aircraft, but that seems to have disappeared.
Anyone out there happen to have a copy of it, or know what I’m talking about?

Daren,
That’s nice, thanks for sharing.

Not the best of shots and, as I say, my builds aren’t anywhere near as good as some others….

Ian
Somewhere on Facebook, yeah, although I can take some new ones. Might well be quicker!
Incidentally, model is from the Italeri/Ocidental kit. Nice and easy build, although my standards aren’t quite up to par with some others I’ve seen!

Daren,
Any photos of the model of TE462 in its current colours? I’d be interested to see it, if that’s possible.

The pricetag for the Tamiya Mk.XVI always put me off, but I’ve seen them come down a fair bit lately. I’ve heard it’s a really nice kit, though.
I’ll be using the Eduard kit for this one.

The Tamiya 1/32 MK XVI includes decals for an NMF Spit from the same unit FD-AA .
I’ve just got one on eBay for £66.

YES!!!
Thanks for that, Ian. I was starting to think I had imagined it. I was hoping to do a model of the aircraft in this scheme (already done one in the current colours).
Thanks again!

Daren,
If you go to the museum website, click on the ‘Discover the museum’ tab, then click on ‘Our Aircraft’, then ‘Military Aircraft’. You should then see the Spitfire listed as second on the list. Click on this and this will open up a page of brief details. Click ‘find out more about the Spitfire’ and you’ll find the photo you’re looking for near the bottom of the page.
I hope this is helpful, and do come and see TE462 in the new displays soon!
