Spitfire toggle?

Can anyone help me identify this please. It came from Australia with a few other Spitfire parts but I cannot work out what it is. Wooden handle with about 48 inches of cable to a steel bracket. Bracket has part number 307037. No inspection stamp. Thanks.

Hmmm cant see a 307 number being Spitty..Does look like a dinghy or some sort of emergency toggle.

Hi, there is a small stowage box on the port side of the cockpit bolted to frame 9, its labled controller stowage, and I have seen somethimg similar to this in one of them. Not sure of its use though !
