There is a nice pic on Facebook of EP122 making its first flight this morning from Biggin Hill:
For those that use it, the link is here:

SADSACK, I don’t understand. What have I missed?

P7350, AB910 N3200 and AR501 are unlikely to depart… they are very important aircraft. And we still have MH434 and EP120 to marvel over 🙂

Not my favourite Mk. of Spitfire but it looks good and nice to see some different markings as well!

Well done team. Love that short prop boss, camoflage and markings.

What a gorgeous beast she is! Well done to everyone involved – it’s great to see this photo on my work PC, the smartphone didn’t do it justice!

How many flying Spits down there now, I am wondering. Seven or even eight ?
7 fliers
3 projects
3 waiting in the wings
So 13 Spitfires all under one roof as well as the Cub, Harvard, Hurricane and Me-109E!

Lovely! I love the odd combo of roundels/flashes. It is certainly unique!

John,
I certainly don’t want to start an argument, but there are quite a few Mustangs that started with little of the original, and have been rebuilt – sometimes several times over. In fact, I have relaxed my view over time – it actually doesn’t matter as long as no one is being fooled as to what is original manufacture, and what is newly made.
EP122 IS a Spitfire – I don’t think anyone can doubt that looking at the picture a few comments up.

Its certainly no worse than many of the Mustangs currently flying.
I can only think of maybe 15 of the 170 Mustangs flying (mainly B/C models) that could be considered “new builds”? When you start stating that “many” are, you get people believing that every example they see now must be a reconstruction, or “replica” (as Sabrejet wants to use).
I love the markings on EP122 – unique among all others flying, and still accurate/authentic. It looks fantastic, and no doubt far more accurate/authentic to original WWII spec than some other Spitfires flying today that aren’t major rebuilds or “new builds”. With this one, and a couple other recent restorations and overhauls to flight (including MT818), we’re surely now over the 60 threshold when it comes to the number of flying Spitfires in the world, right?

A replica then. Sadly I can’t receive Facebook via ‘work’ internet, but will have a look later. Nevertheless it’s great to see another Spitfire creation, whatever its provenance (or lack thereof).
Its a Spitfire for gawds sake, don’t think you will hear many complaining. I will travel to see it any day, what an absolute beaut!

Can’t get the link to work: rebuild or replica?
Clearly it’s been rebuilt .
Then again look at the duxford mk1 is that any different?
Or is that a replica?
It’s another Spitfire flying.
Let’s just celebrate that and not split hairs.
Well done to all concerned

Please not that debate again.
Just enjoy this. I do. Nice livery too.

There’s a bit more to it than that. Its certainly no worse than many of the Mustangs currently flying.
I wouldn’t disagree!
