Spitfire VIII MT719 First Flight Footage, Italy, 1982

Stumbled across this the other day, which I thought might be of interest to some on here: –

No sound on the film sadly, but worth watching none the less.

Keep an eye out out for a younger ‘Major’ Day!

[Apologies. Have corrected title of thread – still had MT818 in my head after reading the current thread on it!] 😮

Cheers

First flights are always nerve racking!
I’m told one of the rebuild team was on this one!
Great footage and a lovely aircraft, had a mosquito engine at the time.

Not the first flight at Vergiate, possibly the first “official flight”. Younger versions of Franco Actis, Paul Mercer and yours truly also noted. Thanks for posting.

I met this Spitfire at OshKosh in 1994, saw her fly then. Beautiful.
I saw her more recently in Addison Texas (Cavanaugh Museum) 2011.
Sadly, collecting dust.
I don’t think she has flown since the ’90’s.
