As per the title, caught the tail end of this the other night and it was fascinating what these ATA women went through, flying anything from Hurricanes and Stirlings in one day, all without radios and armament

All three are well worth another look or a first look, if missed previously.:)

Sorry for the bump, but for anyone who missed this, it’s being repeated (again) on BBC4 @ 9pm tonight.
Before it @ 8pm is The Vera Lynn Story and after it @ 10pm Female Agents, a drama about the SOE. And once more for Wellington Bomber? 11.40pm.

I also watched the programme and my only point was they spoke about what most of the pilots did after the war but not Jackie Cochren, ive just been re reading Chuck Yeagers Autobiography and she certainly had an interesting life after the war.

As I posted on the other thread about this programme;
“Just watched a repeat on BBC4. Absolutely humbled by the bravery and can-do (sorry for the Americanism) attitude of those women.
Wonderful stuff [EDIT] and a worthy tribute to the Women of the ATA.
“I flew 72 types” – Wow! From fighters to heavy bombers, amazing skill.”

Fantastic stuff, rather sad how these talented and dedicated pilots were elbowed out after they weren’t required anymore.

I thought it was rather a good programme. Its a pity the main players had all passed on as they were certainly made out to be characters.
