Spitfire wreckage in Bamburgh Castle

Hi All,

A friend of mine has recently been to Bamburgh Castle in Northumbria and told me that they have some Spitfire wreckage on display. The problem is that as he is not an aviation man this is all the detail I have. He did however go on to mention that it was the remains of a local beach crashsite that had been recovered. I do not know how long they have had them on display or even what the remains consist of but I am curious.

Can anyone provide any further information on this one for me please.

I have had a look on web and I have found out that the castle do have within it the ‘Armstrong and Aviation museum’ but I could not find any information about the exhibits they have on display.

All help gratefully received.
