Just thought I’d mention that Barry (aka Spitfireman on the forum) has been really quite poorly and in hospital – hence his recent and notable absence here.
No doubt other forum users who enjoy his informative and amusing postings might like to know and be able to wish him well.

I reckon you have just covered all the reasons the rest of us like it here. Some of the other forums I’ve tried seem cold and impersoanl and – I don’t know just not as friendly as this one somehow.
…it’s because this is the forum for Human aviation enthusiasts/nutters/whatever we call ourselves!
Baz, glad you’re back home and on the mend. Now kindly stop hollering “Nurse! The screens!” 😀

Bruce, I feel the same way.
With offers of help setting up the Spitfire at Shoreham, ( it is just swinging the wings out that needs manpower for about 5 minutes and the same to fold her up ) and maybe a bit of carrying ( props, rudder, elevator etc ) it won’t feel such a chore and whack me out for the day. I just need to get a little closer to the day to see if I’m up to the journey.
Another forumite, Dr Strangelove pitched up this evening and helped with a bit of food and shifted bags of coal (I tried and gave up!) and made sure I was comfortable for the evening with a fire, etc. Thanks Mike.
I like this forum and the people on it. I like the ‘nitpickers’, the spelling and grammer mistakes (including mine), the willingness to share information, the humour and the odd bundle between the different members. Through Sunday night/ Monday morning I laughed out loud waking up the entire ward whilst reading ‘prickly subject’ in GD ( before it was modded!! )
I like the immense knowledge shared by the likes of professional aviation people (aka Andy Saunders, Mark12 etc) and most of all, the compassion shown to a fellow member who’s taken a beating and was feeling a little low.cheers
Baz
Good morning mate. Have a good day relaxing and getting better. I reckon you have just covered all the reasons the rest of us like it here. Some of the other forums I’ve tried seem cold and impersoanl and – I don’t know just not as friendly as this one somehow.

Great to hear you are back, old chap!
Just so long as you are aware that your attendance at Shoreham is compulsory!
If I lived a bit closer you could overnight with us (you can if you want, anyway!) although you are more than welcome to stop on-site overnight if you feel up to it, or if you want to.
The main thing, though, is that you get yourself fit and well. If you can make the journey on 26 March we’d all be delighted.
Andy

I have many friends here who I have never met in person, but have shown themselves to be made of the right stuff time and again.

I don’t think Baz could be anything other than himself, glad to hear that your main problem now is the cat, the girls both send their love and best wishes

Good Man Barry,
I am constantly surprised and delighted by the sheer selflessness and generosity of spirit shown by forum members. I have many friends here who I have never met in person, but have shown themselves to be made of the right stuff time and again.
Hopefully you will be back to your old self again soon.
Be happy to help with the Spitfire if you get to Shoreham.
Bruce

Good to hear you are home with your own “creature comforts”. I hope you get disconnected as soon as possible so that you can get back “on the road” which gives you, and us, of course, so much pleasure.:)

I’m Home!
I feel pretty much beat up, however, a lot better than 3 weeks ago:eek:
As the evening wore on the cat became the “face hugger” off Aliens and wouldn’t leave me alone!!
I would like to thank you guys for your support on the forum, you cannot believe how much it bucked me up in the early hours when unable to sleep.
Thankyou to Graham Adlam who happened to be on the phone when I was first struck ill and told me to dial 999, or he would………..!(good call)
I would especially like to thank Chris Williams (aka wingcomandrflap) who unselfishly helped me at every turn during this period. Looking after Spitfirecorner, my cat and I.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the help Chris has given me over the last few weeks, thanks mate.
Its going to take a while to recover from this and I’m attached to machinery for the next few months that aids the surgery etc.
Andy, not sure about Shoreham just yet, but it is my goal to be there with my Spitfire. Need to see how the next couple of weeks pan out.
Thankyou for the card BSG-75:)
Thanks again
Baz

I was hoping you would be released yesterday Baz, still you can’t beat the care and attention, as frustrating as it might seem, where you are.
