Some great behind-the-scenes footage of the Spitfires used in the filming of The Longest Day.
(Yes, it’s in French, but it’s well worth a watch!)

During the course of filming in 1961 the three Spitfires MH415, MK297 & MK923 all coded GW of the Free French 340 Squadron, the Cross of Alsace/Lorraine stick on insignia grew from modest, to large on to ‘God almighty’.
