Hi all aviators, armchair or aloft. Let us see what will be spotted in the skies above our heads in 2013. Historic/Vintage/Warbird/Rare/Interesting ! we all love to see them and it gives a heads up to others as to what where and when. Maybe 2014 will bring its first spotted below ground level, (2013 void of this) shhssssssss.
I think we should all give a massive thank you to all the operators of these flying machines who without you would only see in museums, or more than likely not. Now I would like to wish all of you a happy and Aviationous 2014. TA

The main entrance was at the bottom right of the picture and the footpath goes from there straight up and you can see it also across the field.
The footpath at the bottom left of the picture also runs to the top of the picture.

There’s a footpath at both ends of the runway, the one at the interesting end crosses the airfield entrance road at one point – hope they haven’t blocked it off – and you also end up in a small wood, so be careful.

Thanks ‘Reg’, I might have to have a wander up there and peak over the fence. I might walk along the footpath at the end of the runway andv see what’s there.

Some had been static for a fair while, I would think that they were roaded out or reduced to spares, but most were flown. The’temporary’ hangers were disassembled and taken away- all this by the end of September.

So sad! All aircraft gone, did they all get out under their own steam?

2 rusting wartime hangars, a derelict building constructed for Nat Somers to build the SK1, the very rusty hybrid T1/T2 hangar dating from 1960, a few wartime huts – and a security guard and his dogs to stop the place getting trashed by pikeys and the 4-wheel drive/motocross brigade.
It looks a bit desolate.

I heard the Pitts, but it was over Codicote/Rush Green direction. It then flew over me in the direction of Panhanger. Had seen it Christmas Eve flying the the other direction. What’s left at Panshanger?

Around 12.30ish a familiar red Pitts Special performed a few aeros over the now-defunct Panshanger airfield before continuing on it’s way, heading West. Reckon I know who that was.

This afternoon I saw a pair of F15s (almost certainly) flying over Salisbury at 2-4000ft. They came in heading east and turned to fly north probably to Boscombe Down. Does anybody have any info on them?

Flying Northbound. Possibly called up as “GJ”. Flying very low beneath low cloudbase.
