SPOTTED (2017),What Have You Seen?

After 393 SPOTS and just shy of 40k views on the 2016 SPOTTED thread its time to get the 2017 ready to go.
Last year I had the first spot of the year on the 1st Jan 2016 hopefully we may have an early out and abouter early on

Thank you to all operators who maintain these precious objects for us to look skyward sometimes alerted by the sound before actually seeing the example of what is attached to the noise.
Happy & safe 2017 one and all.

Catalina

A bit belated but;

Spitfire looking like it was on finals to Enstone, or somewhere further West. Also;

Catalina, Sunday 20 May heading roughly North and passing just west of Stratford on Avon.

As is usual with these old birds I heard it before I saw it. Lovely low rumble in the cruise and audible for quite a few minutes afterwards.

There are the aircraft I previously mentioned.
John Sessions brought his P-51B instead of his Spitfire (must be a tough choice) and he also brought his TBM and DC-3 (actually a converted C-47).
Also our local Grumman Goose, ex-RAF lend lease, was there. Good to see two wartime Grummans on the same field.

The Dragonfly G-AEDU over South London on its way back to Biggin – lovely to hear a pair of Gipsies.

Incidentally, the Tiger Moth joy riding operation at Redhill is usually much in evidence around south Croydon, not a putter so far this year – are they still going?

A white/gray TBM (Atlantic escort carrier/ASW markings?) and a P-51B in tight formation. They’re in town for the annual “neighbor day” at KSFF, the general aviation field.
From the Historic Flight Foundation out of Everett, Washington.
Photos tomorrow.

SOFIA left tonight for NZ via Hawaii. Think it’s gone for 6-9 weeks.

Couldn’t find a 2018 Spotted thread so thought I would put it here.

Just had a blue (not sure only saw underside of it) Spitfire gunning it round RAF Northolt.

Heard a familiar drone over Croydon about 40 mins ago – as expected, German Air Force Transall! Hearing is still good and I haven’t forgotten the sound of Tynes! Appears to have gone into St Mawgan; either the lads fancy some surfing before Christmas or the German Army have been on exercise down that way somewhere?

Heard but didn’t see a Spitfire at low level this afternoon just after 15:30.

Not sure which direction it was going but possibly the Boultbee two seater, has it has been quite active the last few days.

Cheers

Westland Sea King spotted from the Bournemouth Eastcliff flying west toward Portland, over the sea , at about 16.00 hrs this afternoon. Looked like a Mk5, possibly one of the HeliOperations aircraft, can anyone confirm ? It made my afternoon !
