Hi all,
Inspired by the “Spotted…” thread (to which I cannot possibly contribute as I live in Sheffield – nowt around here except Classic Flight’s G-AGTM!) and also by the “Hilarious Mistakes on Screen Thread”, how about going off on a tangent and having a “Spotted in Film/Video” thread? Yes, these have been done before, I know but having searched around, they seem to be mainly music promo-based. How about things which forum members have spotted lurking around which aren’t necessarily associated with the actual plot?
I’ll kick off with two (OK, one IS associated with the plot but it’s the best I can do before tea! Sorry all!)
Beatles – I Am the Walrus: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cqOKvonLrH8
At 2 mins 35 secs – Shackleton MR.1A (?)
Beatles – A Hard Days Night (closing sequence):
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=C9qCWeUBuoA (7 mins 7) Westland WS-55 Whirlwind Series 1, G-ANFH (http://www.hmfriends.org.uk/brisganfhbig.htm)
Just thought it might be some fun! Any more?
Chris

Does anybody know which Dakota appears in the Biggin Hill shots in ‘The DaVinci Code’, was it there as a ‘prop’ (pun probably sort of intended…..:o ), or by sheer coincidence?

I bow to your superior knowledge!
I wonder why? I don’t recall any others with them (Torness, Dungeness etc).
Anyway, we are digressing – it certainly wasn’t a nuclear power station in TMMITFM, but it was wildly anachronistic.

Coal/Gas – Nuclear plants don’t need cooling towers.

Has anyone noticed this one:
“Those Magificent Men in their Flying machines” (1965)
when the train goes through the tunnel and destorys
the aircraft on top you can clearly see a NUCLEAR
power station in the background.Simon

IIRC (from an old thread here) it’s the long-demolished Bedford, and the tunnel was near Old Warden.

Neither. It’s from a Vampire.
I agree with you Mark. It’s definatly Vampire 😉

I, too, thought of Meteor but someone else assured me it was a tail cone off a Dakota.
Roger Smith.

Does anyone know what the nacelle looking structure is on the Dragons Den set? I keep thinking Meteor but probably totally wrong.

Anyone ever noticed the stripped down ejector seats aboard the millenium falcon?

Feature length colour episode of the Saint shown recently, some very clear views of Autair As 57 Ambassador at Luton as well as the more common Britts.

Spotted in Films
It’s funny you should mention this. I was watching Star Wars: Attack of the Clones on telly a few days ago and spotted these (see piccie).
Hunter gun blast tubes. Four of them.
B*gger! I was looking for some of these for bloomin’ ages. If only I’d known there were a spare set on Tatooine.

What a good idea!
Here are two I have noticed-
“Where The Bullets Fly” (1965 or 1966. UK , Director John Gilling)
Early in the film there are some sequences shot at Biggin Hill .
Lancaster NX611 can be seen clearly in the background.
“Crossplot” (1969). Roger Moore spy film.
There is one short sequence where a Mosquito nose/cockpit section (used in “633 Squadron”/”Mosquito Squadron”) can be seen ,painted to look like the nose of a civil aircraft.
BTW I don’t think either film is available on video /DVD. I only saw the first film once when it was shown on STV in the Spring of 1973. “Crossplot” turns up on the satellite movie channels from time to time.
Best Wishes,
Colin
