Spotters Corner

Hiya all,

Inspired by my 1st spotting visit in a long time to LBA today, (Where I got very sunburnt!), thought up the idea of a thread where everyone can share what they have logged when they have been on spotting trips. I always enjoy reading other peoples logs.

All logs must have Registration,Aircraft Type and Airline.

I see no problem with one thread for logs. Particually for the less reported airports like LBA. A long list of stuff for say LHR is a tad boring but its nice to know what unuasuall stuff is about. And I do belong to civil spotters and run the Farnborough list with 300 members.

Sorry if this thread has caused some controvosy. (Spelling!).

I just thought some people might like to share and view logs, as when the spotting competition is on, it seems quite popular, thought it might be nice as a permanent thing.

Grey Area- You say it would be unconsiderate of the non spotters of us… its only 1 thread! You could say that a thread about Russian aircraft is unconsiderate to the people who dont like them, or a models thread is unconsiderate, thats a silly thing to say, as long as it stays in one thread, the spotters among us might like to post in here, and I cant see anything wrong with that personally.

Just ignore Grey Area, I generally do ;).

Although spotting logs bore me to tears, I see nothing wrong with a thread containing them. As long as it is only the one thread.

Indeed there is. My view is that if you think there’s too much of one thing then contribute some more of another thing. Balance is what it’s all about.

We have a fairly good mix of input and view points here, be it from number collectors, snappers, airline staff, model buffs, general observers or out and out aviation romanticists. (spelling?)

If forum members like the log thread they’ll come back to it, but like a dodgy record in the top 40.. It’ll soon slide if the public says no. 😀

hey…. what about designers? 😉

i got 5 days worth of backlog from AMS, Farnborough, LGW and LHR. You’ll excuse me if I postpone it till some later date, perhaps… possibly…. eventually. Some photo’s are on their way though, but with close to 2,6gb (yes, gigabyte) to choose from that may take a while to sort out.

No, that was only irony.

You can try for insults, if you like………. 😉

Seriously, though, a forum like this really isn’t the place to go posting one’s logs.

I certainly don’t intend to post any here, as I don’t think it would be very considerate of the non-spotters who also use the forum.

Wait, wait!!!!

There are e-mail lists and Yahoo groups for this sort of thing – loads of them!

What would happen if every spotter who uses this forum started posting their logs?

For a start, the non-spotters would get pretty tee’d off pretty quickly.

In all honesty, if you want to see other people’s logs the best thing to do is to join the Civil Spotters Yahoo Group, or something similar.
