Me too,it’s great!.From the long stay car park all the way up to the start of runway 10,there’s a long hill where you can choose whatever spot you like, bit of a hike from the terminal though 🙁

You guys should see the new mound about another 20 mins walk from the original one.

Its MASSSSSSIVE and not for anybody who cant climb at all the pictures you can get of aircraft at the holding point of 10 are incredible.

If you have a car or Im off that day you can get to a normal sized mound a little further up near the long stay car park. Ive spent many hours relaxing their this summer.

The best thing to do to avoid the fence, is to keep on walking about another 30 seconds past the original mound, to another mound of rubble which is slightly higher. The fence is less of an issue then :).

Peter:
I was there in January when the fence was being built, the below is a shot taken from the mound:

I carry a small set of “A frame” type step ladders, which got me enough elevation to shoot over the fence.

The fence is an annoyance but doesn’t entirely prohibit photography as can be seen above but it can be a problem with the smaller aircraft. The mound isn’t the most pleasant of places on a rainy day as it’s cold, muddy and you have drivers occasionally yelling or beeebing at you! just hope for a plesant day, stand on one of the rocks so your over the fence with the lens, don’t fall back into the pit and you’ll be fine :D.

They do get in the way of shots a bit…
