Spring Clip device identification!

Hi All,

I am currently investigating the loss of a U.S B-17G. During my discussions with the landowner I found out that the field where the aircraft crashed was ploughed up until the mid 1990’s and then turned to pasture.
Every year small fragments were found littering the surface, one piece was picked up and brought back to the farm. (see image). On the left a parachute harness hook and on the right? I am wondering if anyone can identify what it is? Could it be from the wreck or something used on the farm?

Can anyone help solve the mystery for us..
