Is it really 50 years ago today that as a precocious five-year-old I was twidling the knobs on the family radio to listen to the bleeps from outer space?
And is it really 49 years since the Comet 4 brought jet services to the North Atlantic?

I see that at least “Google” is celebrating the 50th anniverary of the first artificial satellite.
I remember seeing it come over that first evening ( or was it really the second stage booster? 🙁 )
