SQ News

Source is Australian Aviation, a magazine down here in Australia

Apparently there has been talks within SQ concerning another aircraft this time for the 777-200LR, if SQ orders this it will replace the A340-500 on flights to america, meaning that SQ would be the only airline in the world to just operate 777’s in its main fleet, as the 747’s are on the way out with the order of the 777-300ER and the only other 747’s are in SIA Cargo.

The Transport Minister of Australia, John Anderson, is commited in recomencing talks with Singapore concerning Singapore Airlines be approved to operater flights accross the Pacific from Australia to the U.S. East Coast, the talks were stopped a while back because Qantas proclaimed that the market was not stable and still believes that the talks still shouldnt continue due to the markets stability as it is still fragile according to Qantas, Qantas argues with that statement saying that if you take a look at the US airlines many are in Chapter 11 Bankrupcy protection and some if aren’t yet in it are on the virge of it. But John Anderson believes that the market has stabilised.

I think it has stablised, plus i think that Qantas is just trying to use other facts as excuses to not let a carrier on the route as Qantas’ dominace in that market is pretty big.

Concerning SIA i think the news is terrific it would be heaps better when coming to maintence costs, they would be like the 777 experts now, if Boeing need advice they would ask SIA first id reckon lol but ofcourse Boeing wouldn’t have to do that lol hahaha :p
