Sqadron 77 or 106 ?

Hi all,

I have a question about two Whitley aircrafts.

Have the Whitley Z6585 and Z6582 of 77 Sqdn. the code letter “KN” or “ZN” ?
My database show the “ZN”. But “ZN” was flown from 106 sqdn. ??

What is right? Why was the code-letter not changed?

Regards

Nils

Thanks !

It was my idea too, that the 77 Sqdn. used this code during a period of a raid.

Couldn’t it be a typo? Both aircraft were on the books of 77 Squadron at the time of their final flights.

Best wishes

77 Squadron used KN throughout the war. 106 Squadron used ZN throughout, so I think your database is wrong.

I think 77 Sq. used ZL but only during the period of the Munich crisis. Perhaps this is where the confusion lies?
