His goon baiting sounds similar to Douglas Baders’. Probably didn’t go down too well with many of the inmates, as I believe DB’s didn’t.

A Colditz resident of some note ! He was an extraordinary man among extraordinary men. Upon his original capture, his interrogator came up with the standard formula: “For you the war is over”. Tunstall replied: “Not for me, it’s just starting”.

He proceeded to be – for the rest of the war, the most painful thorn in the backside of the German military. Apart from sending a stream of intelligence reports back to Britain, he aggravated and infuriated the Jerries in equal measure for the duration.

What a bloke!

Now I have located the film…..http://www.davewindle.com/DEWart%20video1.htm

That’s ok. So long as his passing didn’t go unnoticed!

You just beat me to it!! What an extraordinary man – in days nearly 18 months in solitary. A long film was made of his story a few years ago but I’m not sure if it still accessible anywhere.
