Sorry, I seem to be ‘hogging’ this forum, but can anyone help me by providing any information about this chap. All I know is that he was working, during 1944, in ‘Organisation 3’ – which I’m now pretty sure was a section within either Bomber Command Headquarters or the Air Ministry. Any help welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Andrew

There is a possibility that Sqd/Ldr A Cain could be Albert Cain (1539877). He apparently enlisted at Padgate in April 1941, but I can’t find out anything else about him………

No problem, baz. I’ve tried searching for every related surname I can think of, but to no avail, I’m afraid. With regards to the document, it’s a Bomber Command file entitled ‘Bomber Defence Training Flights’ (National Archives reference AIR14-1637). I’ve attached a full page to this post, in the hope that it might help. Thanks again, Andrew

Thanks for posting the Siggie Andrew.
‘A Cain’ does not even appear in the 1944 AFL Alphabetical Index so I guess that is not his name – even though the siggie does look like A Cain.
I did wonder if it might be a retired or Honorary Sqn Ldr but I think that is unlikely.
What document did the siggie relate to ? just out of interest (by PM if you prefer) as it may pinpoint the particular Branch of the Officer concerned.

Thanks for trying Baz – he does seem to be well hidden. I’ve tried to attach a copy of his signature, just out of interest…

Hi Andrew
I have failed to find any ‘A Cain’ in the May 1944 Air Force List who might fit in with the gentleman you seek.
There is a Sqn Ldr RH Cain (75930) listed on P48 in the Air Ministry section – Directorate of Equipment (A)
But I could not find any ‘A Cain’.
