Sqdn Ldr Kazimierz Blascziewicz

I am looking to help a work associate find some information about his late father who was a Polish officer who flew Mossies in the RAF.
He believes he was in 307 sqdn operating out of Exeter flying night fighting Mossies??
He also believes that he was credited with 2 1/2 kills?

I would like to try and help him find out anything, as he told me his father did not talk about his wartime exploits and unfortunately he passed away some 20 or so years ago and so would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks
Bomberboy

According to my files the only Polish pilot with roughly maching name and a Mosquito score was Sgt Kazimierz Leszkiewicz (780887) who destroyed a Ju88 on the ground at Husum on 25 April 1945.

As regards the Polish Mosquitoes at Exeter question, here is No. 307 Sqn Mosquito NF.II HJ932 EW-L photographed (in fact filmed) in colour at Exeter on 28 March 1943. F/Lt Jerzy Damsz (left) had just brough F/Lt Hugo Hrbacek (right) to base. Hrbacek, a Czech Spitfire pilot was downed into the Channel that day. When he was picked up, Damsz flew in his Mosquito to Tangmere and brought him back to Exeter.

Mosquitoes and Exeter do not go together. If he was at Exeter then it would be Beaufighters. He may have flown Mosquitoes later when they changed over in the middle of 1943. The Polish spelling is Błaszkiewicz which is important if you want to search Polish records. I cannot find any mention of him in squadron histories or against any claims but the name is listed here: www.polishairforce.pl/menu/brakdanych.doc

P-0411 Błaszkiewicz Kazimierz 09.11.1910 100 lat* kpt. / F/Lt Oficer techniczny

The P at the beginning of his service number indicates that he was in the PAF (Polish Air Force) not the RAF. He is listed as a Technical Officer.
