St Simeon is about 25 miles east of Paris just outside the Town of Coloummiers. I had the good fortune to stay here for a fortnight a few weeks ago. I had an inkling that I may be able to catch a glimpse of a few Paris inbounds so I packed my SBS and Camera in anticipation, but I never realised just how good things were going to be. Depending on weather arrivals into CDG were seen at 12k or Orly at 6k.
The following photos show an Inbound Mauritius A340 at 6k to ORY and A7-AFP inbound to CDG at 12k.
The local Airfield was Coloummiers/Voisins. It is a huge ex USAF base but only a tiny portion of it is currently being used. The remainder is still in good order but unused. ADP own the field and I cant help but wonder if it is being held ready for developing into a new Airport for Paris.
La Ferte Gaucher is a very friendly local Micro-Strip. A quick request to snap a few pictures allowed me unescorted access into the hanger that contained 40+ Microlights and Autogiros.
We had a trip down to Lyon where I managed to quckly look at St Exupery and Bron. Good views from the Cafes in LYS are available but you have to shoot pics through the glass which can cause some reflection although the glass was quite clean. Photos at Bron can be shot with ease through the fence.

This is shot just before the Regional hangar with just a wee pocket digital that goes up to 3x optical zoom.
