Stansted – G-INTL

Any truth in the rumour that your idle 747 will see air under her wheels this afternoon, 2nd April?:)

N2061L was due to leave PIK on the 4th at 0700, but did not depart until the 5th,It was just in so that the engineers could check the undercarriage
The rumor about the engine failure came form one of the ramp guys at PIK who had spoken to the Pilot after it had landed ,

I aim to please, where do I collect my prize or medal? Even an egg of the chocolate variety will suffice. 😮
Also, fairly certain the rumours of an engine shut down enroute PIK are false.

Guess the confusion was with JT’s 707 engine change. Guarantee your eggs are better than my eggs here!:D

Affirm, now in Jakarta for D check, routed via Dubai or Sharjah.

That would be a ‘new speed record’ in answering a post?:D Now confirmed routed via Dubai.

Rumoured that it had to shut an engine down on the flight north, so may be resident longer than anticipated. The owners are a sales and leasing company in Kansas.

I was told by one of the Ground guys at STN that she was going to Prestwick to sort out the Landing gear and would then route to the far east for a larger refit. It does sound somewhat strange though so may not be completely accurate.

Why does that sound strange to you?
There are no longer any large aircraft jacks available at STN, Prestwick has a 747 hangar with experienced engineers who will be in a good position to prepare the aircraft for the much longer ferry flight to the Far East where a cost effective (cheap?) overhaul can be performed.

Can confirm that it landed at PIk at 1300 today , straight to the Polar Air Hangar, whilst Taxing the Pilot did say that he would be speaking to the tower tomorrow so there could be some movement on Wednesday
Will post Pictures of her at Pik later

Good news Lukey, bit confusing when your post is timed three minutes before the landing! (Flypast time is GMT and you are now in BST). Anyway, what plans after Prestwick, surely not across the Atlantic with wheels down?

Wups sorry about that.

IM guessing shes in at prestwick for some maintaince. Wheels down now ive heard of that been done in country That 747SP in South Africa a few years back but across the atlantic thats going to cut down her speed a bit.

She arrived at Prestwick at 13.00 hours. It said on PPRUNE she was making the journey with her landing gear down all the way.
