Took the Cessna up today to take advantage of the pretty much un-restricted Class D airspace over the UK at the moment. Unfortunately not allowed over Heathrow as it’s sat in Class A which would require a S-VFR clearance (VFR only allowed at the moment). Took hundreds of shots but here’s just a quick selection:
Stansted (only airlines stranded were literally Easyjet and Ryanair, along with 1 Jet2 and a UPS 767 + Arrow Air 767 on the cargo ramp)

‘Approach’ for RWY26L in a Cessna! (we weren’t actually allowed to land..)

Nice colours.

Crossing back over the runway for another orbit.

Countless aircraft parked up.

South terminal pier.

Crossing the Eastern end of the airport again.

South terminal remote and North terminal.

Nice size comparison…looks like cling film on the 747!

And finally after a 4th orbit, one slow pass and heading North before overflying Redhill and Biggin Hill airports (photos not edited yet of the final two).

Nice pictures, well done for sharing them, didn’t realise that Gatwick had two runways? also made me realise that easy jet were the main dominators at Gatwick!

Like I mentioned, the Airbus aircraft I have worked on have the various covers stored inside the aircraft and fly with the aircraft. The B737/B757 I have worked on have had the covers come from the store – I don’t know if that is a Boeing thing or not.
CKing would know more about the bigger Boeings than me. 🙂
See above post:D!!
All of them come with a set of covers. Most never see the light of day, going straight to stores.

The Airbus aircraft I have worked on, the engine covers stay with the aircraft.
The airline I work for and another I handle, take the covers and the box they come in, off the aircraft to save weight. Airlines only fit the covers to the engines and pitot heads when the aircraft are in long term store (More than a week) The ones you have been seeing fitted ARE brand new!

Careful Rob,
There were a few easyJet A320’s in those photos and we wouldn’t want you to have a heart attack from all that excitement…….

I was thinking that too would a new aircraft not come with a full set of covers and stay with the aircraft for life?

I’m surpised they have that many engine covers with Easyjet!
They won’t get out much, they look brandnew from this distance.
