Star Alliance Livery

Hi Guys,

I have questions, how does the Star Alliance livery work?

Does each airline have to paint a certain number of birds, or a certain percent, or is it up to them?

And is there anywhere I can get a complete list of Embraer deliveries to British airlines?

Cheers

Sam

If it has to do with %, then aside from SQ which is at 0%, UA would have to have the 2nd worst % seeing as they have by far the largest fleet in Star and only one painted in the livery.

Agreed, so either the members don’t care about that, or I remember incorrectly. My money is on the latter…

I will go so far to suggest that it might be a certain percentage of the fleet that has to wear the alliance livery.

Do you have the link to where it says that each airline has to have 3 birds painted? I would be curious to read that.

There is a very good Star Alliance website here

It seems that US Airways has just joined it too – so expect to see a few more from now on.

Thai Airways has a 747 (HS-TGW) and an A330-300 (HS-T??) in the Star Alliance colours.

I will go so far to suggest that it might be a certain percentage of the fleet that has to wear the alliance livery. Not sure, but I think I’ve read that somewhere on the internal web pages of my airline.

Concerning SAS, also one of the founding members, we currently have one A330-300 and one B737-800 in the Star Alliance colours. Other types may or may not follow, I’m not authorised to give out that information… 😉

greekdude1 I was biased towards bmi there 😀 But i found it on the Star site months ago that aevery airline musy have at least 3 painted. But UAL ae an exeption, to think they were one of the founders, i think they should show that they are a member of Star more

I know that every airline in Star needs to paint at least 3 aircraft in the Star Alliance livery, and got to say, the bmi one looks the best,

United has always only had 1 bird in the Star livery. They had the one 763 painted in the original Star livery with the ‘original’ 6 members, and that recently got re-painted into the current Star scheme. And how does the Bmi one look the best when they are all identical save for the cowlings and tiny airline name under the Star Alliance titles? I just don’t see it.

bmi have G-WWBD,G-MIDL and G-MIDW in Star colours, the latter still in the old scheme
