I’m thinking of starting an air carrier service between Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (WMSA) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (WMKK). The range is around 46km. Currently, the transit between Kuala Lumpur city center and KLIA is serve by Bus, taxi and a HS train. The train fare is RM55 one way (USD 12.70). Taxi fare is around RM70 (USD 16.70) per taxi. Bus is the cheapest, around RM8-10 (USD 2.00).
Journey time for train is around 28 minutes. Taxi and Bus is around 40 minutes, but they often got stuck in a bad traffic condition and the trip can drag to over an hour.
So i want to ask any expert in here. How feasible it is to start an air transit service from Kuala Lumpur city center (closest airport is SZB/WMSA) to KLIA (WMKK). is it possible to compete with the other method of transports mentioned above? Can you all suggest what type of aircraft to use?

How are the domestic flights organised? Do you need to pass security and passport control? If so then the flight will take considerably more time then the remaining options. And that is not even including the time needed to get from city center to WMSA. The time saving is negligable, the additional comfort doubtful (since you will fly a small plane) and a short flight like this will always be more expensive then the train, let alone the bus. I’d say a flight like this will be booked for the novelty factor ony, and that novelty factor will only work for a short time.

Not a subject that I know anything about. Although I would have thought (at a guess) that the first thing to do,
would be to do a survey and ask how much people would be prepared to pay.
