Having spent many happy hours from 1955 to 1962 hanging over the fence at Squires Gate (now Blackpool International Spaceport or summat), I don’t remember ever seeing a Starways aircraft. This is odd as the text would indicate that Blackpool was a stop on the Glasgow route. Was this just wishful thinking on Starways’ part or was it a regular happening?.

Thanks for the link Jon H although I am not from the Liverpool era very interested in aviation in that area ie Burtonwood and Stretton interesting stuff thanks again to the persons responsible for the Starways history.

It proves there is still hidden treasure on the internet.
Or a well known forum (North West Air News) if you live round these parts!
Here is a link to the “EGGP History and Memories” bit this piece on Starways resides in – http://derbosoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=history

Good stuff. As a spotter at Speke in the early 1960s about half the daily movements were Starways (So three or four).
And my first airliner flight was in Viscount G-ARIR, Liverpool > Heathrow for a day’s spotting from the Queens Building > Liverpool. Including 20 minutes or so on the flight deck.
Simply brilliant!
