Static Spitfire fuselages sections

Hi Everybody,

I understand that there are many out there who are only building small static sections of fuselages of Sptfires and not the full length , I have some sections of the lower rear bottom longerons 35.75″ in length which are ideal.
Please PM your requirements as I have 8 sections in total available.

Have you got the mounting plates and the blocks that secure the aerial in the top of the fuselage ??.

Success

A few pics of the spine longeron at F12 and F14…Thanks for the pics of the bracket mate but still unsure how it rivets up to the longeron section.
To do it mark out the 30027-43h drawing full size on a bit of board.
Fold up channel in straight lengths then using a male, female die put in bends to suit drawing on board.
Next attach via a strap through F12 to the spine section between F11 and F12.
It will sit properly in the cutouts at F13 but will sit high at F14….
B^gger we thought but if you fabricate the brackets at F14 the channels will twist to mate up to the brackets nicely..Here are the pics..

Love the pic of the bracket,it flush with the inside of the skin or recessed a bit further down like the top aerial bracket..

Hi Ross,

Will dig out some pics of the light bracket for you when I am home ok mate, ref the framework as it is attached to the curve of the top fuselage plating so maybe a combination of radius on top of the frame work and the angle of the slot cut outs on the top of the frames.

Jay

Cheers this is what I have already..

Hi Mackeral and Ross,

I do not know of anybody in Worcestershire with a brake press and wished I did.
Ross, ref curves..there are no curves in the sections at all..it maybe the way I took the photographs of the sections, all are straight, still waiting for that info on the wooden armour plate spacers mate
Jay

Ooops b()gger..Will get on it straight away.
Think what Steve is refering too is a full length section being curved,The short sections look like only for F10 to F12 🙂
A guy told me many years ago to just pull them curved onto each frame but think that would distort the frames.

Hello Steve,

From what I have been told they was made up for 2 x static short cockpit sections some years ago hence every section is only 35.75″ long each, after they was made both projects fell by the way side and all 8 sections have just been held by the maker until I offered to try and find a home for them.
