Status of L-188 G-LOFC

Of ATLANTIC AIRLINES two last active Lockheed L-188, G-LOFE (cn 1144) was stored at Coventry-Baginton since April this year. Now this aircraft is withdrawn from use, with removed engines and props.
The other one, Europe’s last ELECTRA in service, G-LOFC (cn 1100) flew daily cargo services between Leipzig/Germany and Katowice/Poland until 22.06.2012, than this service was taken over by a Bluebird Cargo B.737.
Simple question: Where is G-LOFC now? Not in Leipzig, not in Coventry in these days. End of an era ?

Bet there were a few tears on the tarmac…………………..:D

Look, it was a cold and windy day, perfectly normal for eyes to water under the circumstances!

Seriously though it was great to see so many people turn out to see her off. I’ve only worked with them for nine of the twenty years that they were operated by Atlantic. It’s hard to get excited about 737s and ATPs!

The status of LOFC can now be updated, possibly for the last time, at least where its UK life is concerned. It is no longer part of Atlantic Airlines fleet and was handed over to Buffalo Air on Saturday morning. It arrived in the early hours of Saturday, approx 01.15, leaving Coventry about 10.45 the same day, not sure of the correct time, and headed for Canada. It was given a water salute as it taxied and once up in the air made a final low pass of the runway and headed off to its new home.

G-LOFC Final Departure times, SAT27 APR 2013

Rumour correct. G-LOFC arriving on Sat 27th @0130 and departing at 1000 to Buffalo in Canada. I expect to see quite a few there.

G-LOFC is arriving @ CVT on Saturday at 0130, and is departing to Canada on SATURDAY NOT SUNDAY at 1000. JOE-FBS, when you mentioned a white 737 with green stripes, I don’t believe it does have green stripes, it only wears ‘Atlantic Airlines’ titles on the side (G-JMCM).

FB and JV look pretty completely stripped. They are both parked near the hanger alongside the road to the DC6 Diner.

As far as I know, Atlantic already has two 737 Classics, a highly polished blue and white one which we see at Coventry a lot and a dull white one with green stripes which we see only occasionally (it was there yesterday). They do of course have various ATPs in various colours.

Yep. I plan to get finalised times for FC on Thursday next week, It is landing some time on the 27th and leaving sometime on the 28th. No idea what’s happening with FB or JV. I’ll post times by Friday and get them to CAvEG on Thursday. The end of an era.

G-LOFC

Well, some news on FC. when I was at CVT for FE’s departure to Buffalo, someone who had worked on her said that FC was going to go in a few months. Been looking it up and it seems that they’re acquiring some B737-400s.

I’m sad that Atlantic Airlines sold her, but…I LOVE that she’s sold to Buffalo. Buffalo Airlines seems to be making themselves quite the Electra collection, with C-FBAQ, C-FIJX, C-FIJV, and C-GLBA…and now LOFE. 🙂

Well that was fairly intense!

From the time I read the posting that she had departed I was frantically trying to locate her on Planeplotter. At about 14.55 I saw she was to the south west of Stratford at around 1500-2000ft. I then got a text from a mate in Stratford saying that something like a Herc had just been over his house several times. That’s was LOFE then. Picked her up on the scanner and she was coming back in on 05.At this time I had to take the Mrs to work and pick the kids up from school. While waiting for the kids she went up again for a return back to Charlie Tango. She went past me while in the playground and off into the distance. Mad dash to Lucy’s house to drop her off at home and then with my kids in tow a race to the airport was on as she was coming back in. Just got to a good spot and caught her coming in, lights ablaze!
Back in the car to near the west apron to see her backtrack and sit in the threshold of 05 before she went back to the west apron and shut down.

This all happened in the space of an hour. For those who know the area, I live in Lillington, the wife works in Leamington, the kids go to school in Cubbington and I needed to be in Baginton.

And then it started to snow!

Link to vids later.

Cheers

I saw her arrive last night and filmed her. I was meant to try and find out earlier today what was occuring but didnt have chance. Look like the rumours where true then, gone to Buffalo Air.

I was hoping to get the last departure myself and didnt expect her to go so quickly.

cheers

It’s just left and was filmed by a professional looking camera. As I then passed a distinguished veteran canadian pilot and TV regular in the corridor, there might be a reason for that!

On the apron with APU and fuel trucks in attendance. Runway 05 in use. (Don’t blame me if it doesn’t go anywhere!)
