A great friend of mine was in the first group of RAF pilots to train in the US under the Arnold Scheme, and he subsequently went on to fly Hurricanes and Spitfires with 17 Squadron in the Far East.
He often says how much he loved the Stearman (and the Harvard), in which he did his basic training, and I would love to reunite him with one, even if only to have a close-up look and maybe a sit in the cockpit (he is remarkably fit for a very-nearly 90-year old).
Does anyone know of a Stearman within a reasonable travelling distance of Milton Keynes please? I can track down the owner through G-INFO hopefully and see what they say. Better still, is there by any chance a Stearman owner on the forum who might be able help?
Thanks in anticipation.

My apologies; yes I did receive your message and I am seeing the veteran later today to sort out possible dates.
Many thanks for all your help.

Thanks Auster Fan, sounds promising, I will get in touch with them.
Thanks too RGB, but we are looking for rather more than seeing a Stearman flying at a display.

Old Buckenham have a Stearman (G-OBEE), although I realise it’s not that close to MK. The CFI however, Gerry Honey (Wing Cdr Ret’d) has a lot to do with an annual Arnold scheme reunion held there every year, so he might be able to help, or at least point you in the direction of someone closer.
