Stearman s/n mystery

Hi,

I’m currently researching the Stearman Kaydet for
my websitye and came across a photo of a naval
one whose s/n I cannot match to any built batches.

The photo shows an N2S-5 (PT13D) with s/n: 52941
but all sources I have read including the recent
Ed Phillips book state that BuNo. 52627 / 53049
were a cancelled batch.

Are there any Stearman fans out there who can
sort this one out?
