Too late with the steerable gun pod idea. The Soviets had several such weapons in 23mm calibre. The SPPU-22 has a twin barrel 23mm gun that can be depressed up to 30 degrees and was computer controlled so the pilot could enter a shallow dive and open fire and then pull out of the dive with the computer depressing the guns keeping them on target. The pods could also be fitted backwards for suppressive fire of ground targets as the aircraft leaves the area. The SPUU-6 uses a 6 barrel 23mm gatling that can be depressed 45 degrees and traversed 45 degrees left and 45 degrees right.
