Steve Carmichael-Timson RIP

Dear all

Some of you will be saddened to hear that Steve Carmichael-Timson has sadly passed away. He ran the dive the world website and I got the following email from his widow today. She has agreed to let me post it on the forum.

Steve was an interesting person and a controversial character. I never met him, but we did speak on the phone occasionally.

Anyone who cares about rescueing old aeroplanes deserves to be remembered.

RIP Steve

Death of Steve Carmichael-Timson – Funeral Arrangements

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that my husband, Steve, died on 2 March 2008.

His funeral arrangements are as follows:

An informal, non religious service will be held at

Parc Gwyn Crematorium
Narberth
Carmarthenshire
SA67 8UD

11:30 on Monday, 10 March 2008

and I ask that close Family and Friends say a few words about this wonderful man.

A gathering will be held afterwards in the White Mill Pub at White Mill, Carmarthen , SA32 7ET for those who wish to attend.

I believe many people considered Steve to be a good friend and even more knew him as a good laugh, someone who was fun to be around. Those who knew him well knew him to be a very gifted and multi-talented man with a somewhat skewed sense of humour.

His driving force in the twelve years I knew him was to tell the stories of the many young WWII pilots who crashed or ditched their aircraft in water.

In the last two years Steve had discovered a talent for underwater filming and editing, a job that he loved. The quality of his video footage and editing skills speaks for itself and his future was looking very promising

I hope that those who count themselves amongst his friends will attend his funeral which, at his request will be a celebration of his life and not his sad death. Please avoid wearing black if possible. He does not want any flowers or wreaths but would like you to make donations instead to the RNLI in his name which is the only charity he supported.

I need six strong men to carry his coffin. I hope some of you will volunteer.

Sad to hear of his passing, I occasionally conversed with him about aircraft losses around the UK with near enough equal amounts of info passing in each direction.

I’m sorry to hear this news, RIP Steve and condolences to his family.

Steve gave me some very good help and advice a few years ago, I’m sure he will be sorely missed:(
