Its not looking good at all really is it, I was hoping and praying they would have found him safe and well by now.
I have always admired his sense of adventure and he is a rare light in a overall dull world where people don’t seem to have that same sense of adventure.

This is the latest news, five minutes ago. The search area has been expanded and a lake is going to be investigated.:(

There is no update as there is no news, which is not a good sign. The ELT did not work automatically, but it is capable of manual activation, this did not happen, so you could deduce that the pilot was incapable of activating it. The pilot was wearing the Breitling watch which can be used as a search locater, this again would need manual activation by the pilot, it has not been done. The searchers are also using a thermal imaging aircraft, so far without results. Whovever said “no news is good news” didn’t know what they were talking about.:(

When you live your life on the edge like he did the law of averages says it’s only a matter of time before something goes wrong..who’d have thought anything would go wrong on a routine flight

It would be unusual to file a flight plan in this instance as it was ‘an out and back’ flight as he was going to look at some lake beds for a possible land speed record. CNN now reporting that thirteen aircraft are searching for him, but the winds are increasing and the search may be curtailed because of this. The searchers are saying they are searching a 30 square mile area and following electronic information which may refer to an ELT signal. Officials say the registration is N240R.

Yeah. Not reccomended, but people fly without flightplans all the time.
Thanks, just wondered if that was a form of polite journalism…?

He’s disappeared without filing a flight plan ? Is that normal procedure ?
