An interesting memorial dinner to be held on 7th December. So what aircraft did Steve own or fly?

We must assume that the majority of learned forum readers have an elementary grasp of Swedish.
Yes, Swedish…
the international language of love….
and self assemble furniture. 😀
Actually, I did take a Swedish class at university…I’d rather not talk about my grade. 😮

According to I’ve found out did Steve McQueen own half a dozen aircraft, two were Stearmens, one Cub (bought to Barbara Minty McQueen) and – of course – the well known Pictcairn PA-8 Mailwing. Two more planes to id…
And, on the subject – check this out:

(…most of it in Swedish, sorry..)

Both of his planes are shown in the book McQueens Machines…by Matt Stone. It deals primarily about his personal cars and those he drove for films…as well as the Triumph motorcycle used in The Great Escape.
The Pitcarin was/is very nice, the Stearman looks like any another non-warbird painted Stearman.
He is also said to have had a Piper L-4.
At least one claiming past McQueen ownership was offered for sale in Trade-A-Plane in the mid-90s.
Its asking price was about $5-10,000 more than a non-celebrity plane…but seeing how collectable any thing he owned has beome, it probably still would have been a good deal.
Should have bought it, and probably would have if I’d had a place to put it.

According to Wikipedia, he once owned a Pitcain PA-8.

Definitely had a Stearman – his ashes were scattered from it by one of his friends.
He also apparently learnt to fly gliders for his role in The Thomas Crowne Affair.
